Patience is a virtue

In my last post, I told you that I had completed Week 1 of John Thornhill’s Partnership to Success training. Well despite it being only a couple of hours, my patience ran out yesterday, and I started to play around with the appearance of this blog!

Apology – Just in Case!

John, or support team,
if you’re reading this, no criticism is implied .
I really don’t expect an immediate response, but I decided to play around at around 5pm (UK) once out of support hours. That was about 3 hours after I submitted the ticket – so not very long at all!
My thinking was ‘what’s the worst that can happen?’

Lesson Learned (Probably)

I spent several happy hours playing around (genuinely, they were quite happy because I quite like messing around!). During the course of that time, I thought I had ‘lost’ my work a few times, but I always managed to recover it.

I think I probably spent 3 or 4 hours doing something that would have taken less than 1 if I had waited for the training, and I don’t even know if I’ve ended up in the right place.

Oh well. Better than vegetating in front of the TV! 

Quick tip – if, like me, you like playing around even if you don’t really know what you’re doing, write your blog posts offline in ‘Word’ (or some other tool), then copy and paste into WordPress. That way, you know you can easily recreate posts if you need to!

So will I do the same again?

Almost certainly, yes!

I think most people learn best by trying, even if that means that you discover a few ways that don’t work – and generally speaking, there are thousands of ways that don’t work, and only a few (sometimes only 1) that does.

We don’t have to find all of the ways that don’t work, but it does no harm to know a few. the key is to have the patience and perserverance to carry on.
